Cytopathology
n a time when the practice of cytopathology has come under such close scrutiny,
we continue to believe that excellence is essential in performance and service.
Pathology Associates' staff of cytotechnologists provides the backbone for cytology
services for all body sites, including gynecologic pathology (Pap smears),
fine needle aspirations of all superficial and deep organs, fluids from all sites,
and urinary tract cytology. Complete special studies are available, including special
stains and electron microscopy, when required.
Our commitment to quality is demonstrated by the time and attention afforded to each
Pap smear we receive. Pathology Associates' cytotechnologists dedicate themselves to
detail, never operating under quota requirements, and consulting daily with pathologists
in the laboratory. All work is performed on-site with abnormal files maintained as
permanent records for constant correlation with the results of past cervical biopsies
and Pap smears. Quality control and improvement procedures in the laboratory exceed all
national and state standards. These policies and procedures help provide the highest
caliber Pap smear service for the physician, while maintaining the highest level of
concern for the individual patient.
Pathology Associates offers experienced cytopathology diagnosis in all sites including
the following areas: respiratory (sputum, saccomanno collections, bronchial washings,
aspirates), transthoracic needle aspirations, thoracentesis, pericardial, and ascitic
aspirations, cerebrospinal fluids, fine needle aspirations of superficial organs
(thyroid, breast, salivary gland, lymph node, etc.), fine needle aspirations of deep
organs (kidney, pancreas, lungs, etc.), endoscopic cytology, (tracheobronchial,
gastronintestional), and urinary cytology. Fine needle aspirations of superficial palpable
lesions are performed on-site by specialty trained pathologists.
Each cytopathologist regularly communicates with physicians and is always available for
additional consultations. Superior turnaround times are standard. Special supplies and
sample containers are provided without cost.
