Full-Time Cytotechnologist

KWB Pathology Associates, a unique 100% pathologist-owned laboratory located in Tallahassee, Florida, is seeking a Full-Time Cytotechnologist to join our esteemed team! We have proudly served the greater Big Bend area of Florida for over half a century, striving for excellence in caring for our patients, clients, and employees.

Salary is negotiable. $5000 sign on bonus.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

1. B.S. degree and completion of cytotechnology training program required

2. ASCP certification as a cytotechnologist required

3. Florida licensure as a cytotechnologist required

4. Five years’ experience preferred

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accurately prepare, screen, and interpret Gynecological cytology cases (ThinPrep)

2. Accurately prepare, screen, and interpret Non-Gynecological cytology cases (urines, body fluids, CSF, FNA from all body sites, bronchial specimens)

3. Accurately enter interpretations into the computer system

4. Accurately perform ancillary pap testing, including molecular analysis for HPV and CT/NG

5. Cover slip slides

6. Assist with FNA procedures when needed/rapid assessment of FNA cases

7. Answer technical inquiries from clients

8. Ability to work independently

9. Ability to meet the department’s speed and accuracy standards

10. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, pathologists, and clients

11. Maintain acceptable proficiency testing scores

12. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to discern color

2. Ability to operate light microscope controls

3. Ability to work with and around laboratory chemicals and fumes

4. Ability to lift, carry, push up to 50 lbs.

5. Sitting, standing, bending.

Medical Laboratory Technologist

KWB Pathology Associates is seeking a Full-Time, Florida licensed Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician to join our team. KWB Pathology Associates has been in practice for more than half a century and is a local, 100% pathologist-owned laboratory and practice serving the greater Big Bend area of Florida. We strive for excellence in caring for our patients, clients, and employees.

This position will be 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

Pay starts at $23.00 per hour or more depending on experience.

Education/Experience:
1. Florida licensed as a Medical Technologist or Technician Qualified to Perform Molecular Testing

2. ASCP Certification preferred


PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform molecular testing including instrument QC and maintenance.

2. Accession and prepare specimens for processing.

3. Operate and maintain ThinPrep processors.

4. Rerun ThinPreps that have cellularity issues.

5. Operate and maintain automatic stainer and cover slipper.

6. Order ancillary testing and prepare samples.

7. Prepare all non-gyn samples, ECC biopsies and surgical specimens.

8. Distribute slides to cytologists.

9. Maintain records for stains, instruments and reagents.

10. Inventory and order all supplies and send out to clients.

11. Pull correlation slides for pathologists when requested.

12. Coordinate responsibilities for assigned staff.

13. Train and supervise work of assigned staff.

14. Follow department quality control standards and company policies and procedures.

15. Additional duties as assigned by your supervisors.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

2. Ability to work independently and within a team

3. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, co-workers and pathologists

4. Demonstrate accurate data entry skills

5. Ability to read and interpret notations sent on requisitions


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to discern color

2. Lifting, carrying and pushing up to 25 pounds

3. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods

4. Kneeling, bending and sitting

5. Ability to work with/around laboratory chemicals/fumes
