Stephen L. Sgan, M.D.

Stephen L. Sgan, MD is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Forensic Pathology and practices primarily general Surgical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Special interests include gastrointestinal, prostate and breast pathology as well as transfusion medicine, forensic medicine, toxicology, trauma and safety. Dr. Sgan earned B.S. and M.D. degrees from Duke and Wake Forest Universities, respectively. At Emory University, he completed his residency and served as Chief Resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He also completed fellowships in Transfusion Medicine at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospitals and in Forensic Pathology while serving as Assistant Medical Examiner at the Emory/Fulton County Medical Examiner Program in Atlanta. Dr. Sgan has contributed 12 publications, presented 5 abstracts and obtained one research grant. He is a fellow or member of numerous national and local/regional professional organizations.
